Pixel Art Size Guide

Pixel art starts with a grid size, and the right grid depends on where the art will live. This guide lists the practical sizes for games, crafts, social media and printing.

Quick answer: Use 16x16, 32x32 or 64x64 for game sprites; multiples of 29 for perler beads; 128x128 for a Minecraft map; and export 1080x1080 for social. Keep the source size a multiple of your pixel size so no blocks are clipped.

Game sprites

Classic sprite sizes are 16x16 (small items, icons), 32x32 (characters) and 64x64 (large characters, portraits). Convert so your grid lands on these dimensions, then scale in-engine.
